July 11, 2011 - PRLog -- RONIS of France has developed a full range of interlock systems designed specifically to ensure the safety of users and equipment during work on medium- and high-voltage machines and electrical installations. This extensive range is organized into four product families and offers a large number of locks that can be adapted to any hazardous component by requiring manipulation in a specific order. The systems developed by RONIS can be tailored to each company’s specific needs.

Operations in electrical power stations are potentially hazardous: the slightest error or moment of inattention can be fatal. From locking isolator controls to access locks (flaps, doors, covers, etc.), including locking systems for circuit-breaker switches, inverters or transformers, the interlock range by RONIS was specifically designed for maximum safety.

With the approach followed and implemented by RONIS, each hazardous component is protected by one or more locks, each of which can only be opened with its own specific key. A key will not be available to open a given lock if the preceding lock was not correctly released, making the locks interdependent. This system is the most secure, because the locks are mechanical and, therefore, more reliable. Every operation is carefully integrated into a comprehensive process, where the use of the keys prevents any infringement of the required procedure and eliminates any risk of error.

These systems are made entirely of metal, using high-quality, durable materials chosen to ensure maximum reliability. Built around a sturdy stainless-steel case able to withstand the pressures found in difficult environments, each interlock has a brass cylinder pin-tumbler offering a wide range of keying combinations. A brass key completes the system for optimal security.

A new key centre supplements this already very extensive range. The ELC board makes it possible to activate and release one or more keys by introducing them sequentially, requiring them to be manipulated in a specific order. Equipped with at least seven cylinders, the new ELC board is more compact, which enhances ease of installation and transport. The ELC board is available in three models (7 to 12 cylinders, 13 to 18 cylinders, and 19 to 24 cylinders).

In addition, a new type of reversible key has just been developed: it is harder to copy and offers some 80,000 secure combinations.
