Onward Promotions To Present Popular 80's Band The Motels at Johnny D's In The Boston Area
Onward Promotions will be presenting the popular 80's band The Motels at Johnny D's Restaurant and Music Club in Somerville, MA for a rare east coast performance.
The Motels are a New Wave music band from the Los Angeles area best known for "Only the Lonely" and "Suddenly Last Summer", each of which peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1982 and 1983, respectively. Their song "Total Control" reached number 4 on the Australian charts in 1980. Martha Davis, the lead singer, continues to appear under The Motels with various line-ups.
On August 9th, 2011—The Motels lost album Apocalypso, which was recorded 30 years ago, will be released by Omnivore Recordings. Limited edition orange vinyl versions of Apocalypso will be available. At the concert in Philadelphia, The Motels will be performing a few songs from the new release but fans will also get to hear their hits and other popular material.
Johnny D’s is a Boston institution owned and operated by the DeLellis family since 1969. On any given night you may see Cajun fiddle masters from Louisiana, British folk stars, or some of Boston’s finest rockers. Over the years they have had an almost endless list of the best acts in the country — just about anyone who would fit in a 300-capacity room has played there at one time or another, including the greatest names from the jazz, blues.
Johnny D’s Restaurant, serving dinner and weekend brunch, has received local and national attention as well. The menu is varied; featuring many new American dishes and vegetarian items.
