Follow on Google News | Xaverian Missionaries Take on New Mission in ThailandXaverian Missionaries will now serve in the Diocese of Nakhom Sawan in Thialand.
By: Mary Aktay, Dir. of Communication, Xaverian Miss. “We committed ourselves to the Diocese of Nakhom Sawan under Bishop Pibul Visitnondachai. We are looking at the possibility of a new mission at two parishes that are being considered: in Mae Sot and Mae Ramat. Both parishes have a significant Catholic school system which is crucial in the evangelization of this country,” reports Father Carl. The diocese is very vast and comprises cities and rural areas, multiple languages, tribal cultures, Catholic communities and areas that the Church has not yet reached. The two parishes have efficient structures with good modern schools and a large number of students. The school is looked upon as an important instrument for missionary activity. The Thai language is spoken in the central parishes, but the Karen language is the main language. English, Thai and Karen languages will be required of the new Xaverian Missionaries who will work there. Father Carl stated, “Since these parishes are on the Burmese border, refugee camps are abundant and ministry in these camps will be part of our work.” Father Carl can reached for comments at 973-942-2975 or email at missionmedia@ For pictures and updates visit: http://www.xaverianmissionaries.blogspot.com/ # # # The St. Francis Xavier Foreign Mission Society, Inc, known as the Xaverian Missionaries, is a Roman Catholic religious community serving the poor in 19 countries worldwide.
