July 6, 2011 - PRLog -- UNITY Charity, one of the largest youth by youth run organizations in Canada, is kicking off their annual UNITY Festival show this Thursday with the first of the four day arts extravaganza, making this year’s event the biggest UNITY event organizers have seen. UNITY Kickoff Festival is running from July 7th-10th and performances will be taking over areas of the downtown core including the Opera House, the new ING Direct building and even Yonge and Dundas Square where numbers in the tens of thousands will be expected to attend. The 60+ youth artists from UNITY express different urban art forms including break dancing, beat boxing, spoken word poetry and graffiti art, and will be lead by amazing headliners like Canadian rapper/singer Saukrates.

Backed by some incredible sponsors like Pizza Pizza, Much Music and ING direct, Unity has managed to prove themselves when it comes to making a difference where schools all over the country are talking about UNITY and the success they have with their kids. "The youth in our program really have come a long way over the past year", says UNITY Founder Michael Prosserman."Youth in high school are faced with many tough decisions that have the ability to impact the rest of their lives. They are susceptible to making poor choices due to their overbearing surroundings in neighbourhoods where violence and crime are unfortunately a regular occurrence. UNITY gives youth the opportunity to become positive role models in their communities and gives them something positive to aspire to. They becoming powerful spokespeople for their groups and unbelievably talented in the art forms we teach. It's amazing to see youth become truly empowered to make positive change through the arts."

UNITY Kickoff was created by the members of UNITY Charity to engage the public and bring to light the work that the organization is doing in communities and schools all across Canada helping youth ages 10-18 as they aim to engage them, develop their skills for success and to ultimately empower them to be the change that they seek.
