Jazz in the Afternoon

July 6, 2011 - PRLog -- (Atlanta, July- 2011) Atlanta’s Gospel Jazz Trio, Agape Love, will offer “Jazz in the Afternoon” at Atlantic Station -Central  Stage .  The Afternoon of Jazz will commence Saturday, July 9, from 3:00 p.m. - 4 p.m.  Admission is free. An Afternoon of Jazz will showcase Jazz legends including Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, R& B classics including Chaka Kahn, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder and current pop stars such as Norah Jones and Chrisette Michele. Agape Love performs regularly at Underground Atlanta on the lower Alabama Stage.
Agape Love will also feature Atlanta’s answer to Esperanza Spalding in the form of budding cellist Rae Baker. Rae will perform classical selections including Prelude and Gavotte.  Rae is the first chair cellist for Sandy Springs Charter Middle School. She is a member of the Fulton County Honors Orchestra and MYSO (Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra). Rae has performed in various venues across the United States and plans to tour foreign nations in the near future.
Agape Love members currently perform in several orchestras across Metro-Atlanta. Nanci “Shug”  Baker is a member of the Bethune Cookman University Marching Wildcats, former member of  North Springs Marching Band and principle French Horn for Buckhead Youth Symphony Orchestra. Beatrice  “The Queen” Baker is a member of the North Springs High School Jazz and Marching Band, Jazz Orchestra Atlanta’s Jazz Band and  main Keyboard player of Agape Love.
Agape Love was featured in Atlanta’s Skirt Magazine as the Fabulous Baker Girls in July of 2007. At current they play over 15 various string, brass and woodwind instruments. Agape Love performs with Divine Favour Ministries at outreach events across Metro-Atlanta and the United States.  Agape Love has played in nursing homes in Gary, Indiana and at the A. G. Rhodes Nursing Home in Decatur, Ga. They have also been featured on Atlanta 57 Live and online radio/T shows across the world.
