Virdi- for Fake Fingerprint detection

July 6, 2011 - PRLog -- In 2009 a Japanese newspaper reported how in April 2008 a South Korean woman entered Japan on a fake passport by slipping through the state of the art biometric immigration control system.   Using special tape on her fingers to alter her fingerprints she was able to enter Japan from which she had been deported the previous year.

All Virdi finger print units are able to detect all of the following types of fake fingerprints. These include Paper, Coated Paper, Film, Silicon, Rubber and Gelatin. This is detected by three different methods.
   Firstly, by distinguishing between live and fake fingerprints by using electrostatic capacity technology to detect electrical discharge.
   Secondly, analyzing the image data achieved by illuminating the fingerprint with infrared at various incident angles.
   Thirdly, detecting differences between live and fake fingerprints by using a powerful proprietary algorithm.
