July 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Washington, DC  – Affordable Housing Centers of America (AHCOA) a housing nonprofit dedicated to saving homes from foreclosure, announced it is participating in government programs aimed at helping unemployed homeowners avoid foreclosure.  The U. S. Government and a number of state governments have made funding available to people who have fallen behind on their mortgage payments and have a reduced income due to unemployment.

AHCOA can assist eligible homeowners in Pennsylvania and Connecticut, who are 90 days or greater late on their mortgage payments through the Emergency Homeowner Loan Program (EHLP).  The  Florida and California programs are part of the Hardest Hit programs for the unemployed.

“Homeowners who have lost jobs do not also have to lose their homes.  These programs are designed to tide people over until the job markets recover and they can resume full payment of their mortgage.  But homeowners need to act quickly or the money will run out,” said Bruce Dorpalen, AHCOA’s Director of Public Affairs, “We are currently working with homeowners in four states but expect to be able to expand our participation early next month."

Unemployed homeowners in California, Connecticut, Florida and Pennsylvania can call the following numbers for help with their mortgages.
CT: 203-366-4180 ext 8763
PA: 215-765-1221
FL: 866-317-2103
