Spaude Going for Second Straight Top-10 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

July 5, 2011 - PRLog -- P1 Groupe driver Bret Spaude and the rest of the Subaru Road Racing Team look to continue their recent success with a second straight Top-10 finish at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this upcoming weekend. The team scored their first Top-10 of the season two weeks ago at Road America with a sixth place finish in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge event. The Road America race marked a high point in the season for Spaude as well as the return of co-driver Andrew Aquilante. They look to build off of the momentum they have gained with a strong run in the Continental Tire Sports Car Festival Powered by Mazda.

“After a great run at Road America, I am very optimistic about Laguna.” Spaude stated “Our car showed great performance at Road America which should translate into a great set-up heading into Laguna Seca. The team had good strategy and pit stops at Road America as well. With the handling and power improvements we made the past three or four races this should be a great race for us. The tight and difficult corners that Laguna is known for should be a place for our Subaru WRX-STI to shine.”

When asked about his thoughts on his teams’ progress and goals for the rest of the season he responded, “Everything is coming together very nicely. We are going into the last three races of the year with a great deal of momentum which we look to carry over for 2012. We are having strong qualifying runs with an average of around third since Virginia International Raceway and an average finish of around 11th.  I am extremely proud of all the guys on this team!”

Heading into the Continental Tire Sports Car Festival Powered by Mazda the #35 Subaru Road Racing Team is 18th in the Team Championship Points Standings in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series.
