By: ByJeannie Jewelry The Gala featured a fashion show with looks from the top twenty finalists, speeches from previous finalists that have gone to sell to the likes of Neiman Marcus and Saks, and a speech by previous winner Megan Summerville who also hails from Austin. Geoffrey Henning, Vice President of Design at JC Penney, was also awarded with a Career Achievement award. The evening culminated with the Texas’ Next Top Designer award being given to Jeannie Vianney by Henning, who described the line as “innovative.” The grand prize is valued at $40,000 which includes financial and business development assistance, a trip to New York or Los Angeles Fashion Week, subsidized showroom or work space, and the opportunity to network with Texas based industry leaders. Jeannie is the first jewelry designer to be chosen as Texas’ Next Top Designer and was one of only three finalists from Austin during this year’s competition. She started her line in 2005 and has sold in retailers such as Anthropologie and boutiques throughout the US, Australia, and Japan. She has also been featured in publications such as Lucky Magazine, the Washington Post, DailyCandy, and California Apparel News.
