Divabetic Marks One-Year Podcast Anniversary with Super Stars and Stripes

July 1, 2011 - PRLog -- The milestone anniversary for Divabetic’s Diva TalkRadio podcast coincides in July with another, perhaps more well-known anniversary party – America’s Independence Day!  In recognition of both occasions, Divabetic plans a Super Stars and Stripes month of sparkling diabetes outreach, friendly education and self-care advice.  

A national health and wellness nonprofit for women affected by diabetes, Divabetic debuted Diva TalkRadio in July 2010 to reach a more diverse national and international audience  with their Glam More, Fear Less attitude.  Divas not able to attend Divabetic’s live shows and programs can now join the experience on Diva TalkRadio and get encouragement to be bold and upbeat about their diabetes.  It grew from a single test show to an interactive internet talk-radio destination with two regular series, Diabetes Roundtable, a whirlwind of wellness with a wow, and Diabetes Spotlight, an in-depth discussion of issues generating significant attention in the diabetes community.  They also introduced Studio d this month, a single-topic interview with newsmakers and celebrities involved in diabetes advocacy and self-care solutions and offer periodic specials including The Bride’s Guide to Diabetes.  

The programs are hosted by the always entertaining, always engaging healthcare host, Max “Mr. Divabetic” Szadek, founder and executive director of Divabetic.  “It’s compelling to listen to Diva TalkRadio because we don’t just talk to ‘experts,’ we get testimonials from real women everywhere from Philadelphia to Nashville,” says Szadek reflecting on the podcast’s first anniversary.  “We’re ready to celebrate with diva-style fireworks.”    

The line-up this month includes Diabetes Spotlight on Tuesday, July 5 at 6:00 PM featuring Holly Clegg, chef and cookbook author of Too Hot in the Kitchen:  Secrets to Sizzle at Any Age.  One of the most popular guests from the past year, Clegg’s encore appearance will acknowledge the success of Diva TalkRadio.  Diabetes Roundtable:  Super Stars and Stripes will air on Tuesday, July 12 at 6:00 PM and feature inspiration from superstar actress Mae West, who lived with type 2 diabetes.

Diva TalkRadio will also repeat its special Tribute to Luther Vandross on Friday, July 1 at 6:00 PM.  The program was originally broadcast live on what would have been his 60th birthday.  Though Luther’s voice was silenced  on July 1, 2005 due to the tragedy of diabetes, his life was the motivation for the founding of Divabetic.
