July 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Analysing the data from funding requests submitted by businesses into the matchmaking service, the FundingStore Index provides valuable information including how much funding is being requested, the busiest business sectors and regional activity.

The busy South East
Figures for April to June 2011 showed requests for funding ranging from £100,000 to £5million with typical requests falling into the £300k to £600k range. Once again the South East and London represent the majority, with a 52% share ( including 22% from Greater London). The North West maintains its second place with almost 20% was founded by Nick Montague, a chartered accountant and business development advisor . He explains:

“Almost one in every three requests submitted is internet related, we are seeing many smartphone and iPad apps, plus some exciting new technology companies. There is also a clear rise in online service and retail businesses – which corresponds with recent announcements highlighting the increased level of activity from newly registered eBay traders across the UK.”

“But this level of activity can be a double edged sword. There is fierce competition to raise funding, and if your business proposition requires a large amount of finance or it will take considerable time before it generates revenue (let alone profit) then it is likely to be tough, unless you’ve created a “killer” app.”
