The greatest sense of achievement – Discover Adventure’s worldwide cycling challenges
Inspired by the Tour de France, which kicks off on 2 July, or by the recent Discover Adventure-organised Help for Heroes cycling challenge from Portsmouth to Paris, marking the charity’s £100M fundraising milestone?

13-day Land’s End to John O’Groats cycle trip
Completion of this rewarding journey is guaranteed to do wonders for self-esteem, especially if raising money for a good cause. Ride the furthest possible distance in the British Isles (1,000 miles!), setting off from Land’s End in England’s far South West, pedalling through Cornwall, over Dartmoor and North Devon and along the Welsh border. Meander through the verdant Lake District into Scotland, weaving through lochs and mountains to reach the north coast and John O’Groats. With long days and some demanding hill climbs, nothing evokes a better sense of success than reaching the finish point - the iconic sight of the Eiffel Tower. Participants also have free time at the end of the trip to explore the world’s most romantic city. Linking two classic cities, cyclists cross the border with an extraordinary climb in the shadow of the majestic Jura Mountains. Following the River Seine from central Paris, participants ride through chalk hills, quiet woodland and rural plateaux. The landscape is dotted with medieval towns and Romanesque churches, with the trip passing through the renowned vineyard regions of Champagne and Burgundy. Home to over 20% of the world’s biodiversity, this journey through Central America is an exciting discovery of rainforest and diverse habitats. Cyclists will ride through three Central American countries - Panama, Costa Rica and Nicaragua - along the Caribbean coast; passing banana and pineapple plantations, rainforests and smoking volcanoes. This is not any normal challenge - expect high humidity and tough riding conditions, but what a rewarding experience! Pedal from Ho Chi Minh City, through the rice-paddies and waterways of the enchanting Mekong Delta, into Cambodia. The adventure culminates at one of the most breathtaking sights in South East Asia - the Royal Temples of Angkor Wat.
