June 30, 2011 - PRLog -- Almost 200 students representing every Graduating Class since the first in 2004 attended a special launch party at the Chatrium Hotel on the banks of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok.

The association, which will be known as SISBAA (Shrewsbury International School Bangkok Alumni Association) aims to help students as well as former parents and staff stay in touch with each other and the school. It also aims to reinforce the intellectual, professional and personal connections that alumni made during their time at Shrewsbury.

SISBAA is open to every student who attended the school for at least a term. There will be a secondary paid-for tier of membership called SISBAA Network that will focus on offering career and professional enhancement opportunities. The SISBAA Network is open to those who are 18 years of age and above who graduated from Year 13 or completed two full years at Shrewsbury International School.

One of the members of the SISBAA launch team was Athicha (Fah) Siriboonlamom who graduated from Shrewsbury International School after taking her A Levels in 2007. She returned to Thailand last year after graduating in Natural Sciences from Trinity College, Cambridge in the UK.

During the launch party, Mr Stephen Holroyd, who has been the Principal at Shrewsbury International School since 2006, welcomed the alumni, many of whom are currently studying at universities in the UK, the US, Australia, Canada, Singapore and Hong Kong.
He said: “It is wonderful to see the talented and diverse group of young people who make up the Shrewsbury alumni community coming together for the launch event. The association will be alumni-led and the best ideas on how it should be run and the benefits it should offer will come from the members themselves.”
