Australia's Bond University Announce Next Vice-Chancellor & President

June 29, 2011 - PRLog -- On behalf of Bond University Council, the Chancellor, Dr Helen Nugent AO, today announced that Professor Tim Brailsford has been appointed as the next Vice-Chancellor & President.  He will succeed Professor Robert Stable, who has held that role for the past eight years with great distinction.  Dr Nugent thanked Professor Stable for the significant contribution and legacy he has made to Bond.

Professor Brailsford is a highly experienced leader in the University sector.  He is currently the Frank Finn Professor of Finance and Executive Dean for the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Queensland.  Prior to that, from 2002 to 2008, he was Professor and Foundation Head and Dean of the University of Queensland Business School.  Professor Brailsford has previously held deanship and other senior academic leadership roles at the Australian National University and the University of Melbourne.

In addition, he is a distinguished researcher in the field of finance and investments, as well as currently holding significant roles as President of the Australian Business Deans’ Council; President of the Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools; a Director of the international body, the Association to Advance the Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB); and a Board member of the European Foundation for Management Development.

Dr Nugent said:  “Bond University Council is delighted that a distinguished academic leader and researcher of Professor Brailsford’s stature has accepted the role of Vice-Chancellor & President.  He will provide the leadership, strategic vision and communication skills to ensure Bond fulfils its significant aspirations as a leading University acknowledged for the quality of the student experience”.

Professor Brailsford said:  “I have always been a great supporter of the independent university model and private not-for-profit education. Moreover, I appreciate the particular challenges of private institutions.  I am greatly impressed by the quality of experience that Bond provides to its students, as well as by the calibre of its staff and its outstanding facilities.  I welcome the opportunity to enhance Bond’s strong position and reputation”.

Dr Nugent said that “the University community welcomes the appointment of Professor Brailsford.  The search has been rigorous, global and extensive.  Professor Brailsford emerged successful from a strong global field of leaders.  We are very confident he will provide the leadership that will secure Bond’s place as an acknowledged leading provider of quality university education”.

Professor Brailsford will take up the appointment from the beginning of the academic year in 2012.
