June 29, 2011 - PRLog -- MADO is the popular name Gay Pride Madrid has and it stands for Madrid Orgullo (Madrid Pride). It is celebrated from 1 July to 3 July and it holds the largest Pride Parade in Europe. 2011 is the time for both the Madrid Pride Festival and Sitges Pride Festival in Spain.

Madrid is a capital famous for its awesome nightlife. It counts on a great variety of clubs, bars and discos suitable to everybody. It is a trendy city with a mix of fashionable people wearing any kind of hairstyles and clothes designs.

Madrid Pride starts on 1 July this year and it lasts 3 days. The best event in Madrid to see and participate at the Gay Pride is the Pride Parade which is celebrated on Saturday 2 July. That Statewide Demonstration is the central event and Europe´s largest pride parade. The official slogan of the Pride Parade in Madrid is the Right to Health and Equality. There will be over 1 million participants and 35 floats and it will set off from Puerta de Alcala at 6pm, go along Gran Via and finish at Plaza España, where there will be party with different concerts until the sun comes up on Sunday.

The district of Chueca is a great gay area in Madrid. There are most of Madrid gay shops, bars and clubs. This is why, it is there where most of the outdoor concerts, on six different stages, parties, exhibitions, cultural and sport events are taking place.

Furthermore, there will be a previous opening speech and inauguration of the Chueca festivities on June 29th at 9pm at Chueca Square. The people responsible for reading the speech are the PP politician Esperanza Aguirre, who has been living in Chueca since 1986, and the TV presenter El Gran Wyoming, who is famous for his humor and his criticism to the country politics.

When Gay Pride Madrid finishes, I suggest you go to Sitges and spend some days there. On 8 July starts the Pride Sitges and ends on 12 July. You can get there by car or take the AVE to Barcelona and then get on RENFE to Sitges. Sitges is quite near Barcelona, just 30 minutes by train. It is the most popular holiday destination for gays and lesbians. Also, although having lots of tourists every year, its landscape has not been spoilt and it still keeps its charm and natural paradise.

There are lots of places and activities for gay people in Sitges. For example, there are gay and nude beaches, gay bars, shops, and clubs. Pride Sitges is one of the most important events in Sitges and a lot of people attend this annual event every summer. The main event is the Pride Parade. Also, it is worth to mention the Gay Pride Village where most parties are celebrated and which is at the seaside with bars, fireworks, a swimsuit fashion show, drag shows and a funny high-heel race, among other activities.

If you would like to have fun in these Pride Spain events, the best thing to do is rent an apartment in Madrid http://www.ok-madrid-apartments.com/en or a Sitges apartment http://www.sitges-ok-apartment.com/en and have a great time in Spain.
