June 28, 2011 - PRLog -- The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) will hold its annual local tournament in Jacksonville, Florida at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club July 25-26, 2011.  This will be the second straight year in which the 1st Coast Junior Open will be held locally in Jacksonville.  Golfers and spectators can expect an enjoyable weekend of golf at one of Jacksonville’s premium golfing venues.  In the HJGT’s previous stop at Jacksonville G & CC, the staff provided the tour with a great weekend and this year is expected to be no different.

The last time the HJGT stopped at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club was July 19-20, 2010.  It was during that weekend when a local product A.J. Crouch of Jacksonville, Florida posted a two day total score of +4 (148) after shooting back to back +2 (74) rounds to take the top spot in the Boys 16-19 Division.  In the event Crouch found himself one back of the leader after one round of play, but saw himself rise to the leaderboard as second round play came to a close.  It was his only win on the HJGT in 2010, but it was a much needed one after he had finished 2nd and 4th respectively in two prior tournaments in 2010.  In the Girls 15-19 Division Flor Canedo Gomez of Oaxaca, Mexico went home with the first place hardware as she posted a score of +16 (75+85=160) in the two day event.  She was able to hold off the second place finisher by four strokes to take her only win, as well, on the HJGT in 2010.

Juniors will compete over 36-holes of stroke play in one of five age divisions: Boys 15-19, Boys 13-14, Boys 10-12, Girls 14-18, or Girls 10-13. This event will be ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard (NJGS) and offers Florida Junior Tour exemptions.  New for 2011, any first-time player who registers for the HJGT will be able to play in his or her first event for only $99! Also, any player who registers for a College Bound Membership with the HJGT will be able to play in his or her first tournament of 2011 for just $99! And remember, any HJGT player who refers a new player to the tour will receive a 12-pack of Nike One Tour D HJGT Logo golf balls for free!

The Jacksonville G&CC, built in 1989, is second to none when it comes to quality and craftsmanship as the finest golf course in the Jacksonville area.  The 18-hole Championship Course, which forms the centerpiece to the best in social pampering to any club in the area, was designed by Clyde Johnston and PGA Tour Professional Fuzzy Zoeller.  The Golf Course Superintendent and his team keep the course in prime condition at all times, which allows golfers to take full advantage of all that the course has to offer throughout the year.
