Business Review Canada Recognizes the Prince Edward Island BioAlliance in Association Spotlight

The PEI BioAlliance is a cluster of over 30 of these companies, academic research institutes and government partners dedicated to building the bioscience industry in Prince Edward Island. Through collaborative efforts between these groups, the PEI BioAlliance has seen tremendous growth in region, resulting in a tripling of the numbers of companies, a doubling of the number of jobs in the sector (to over 800) and a doubling of company revenues (to over $90 million per year).

The PEI BioAlliance has also been a resource for start-up companies and local programs and services. Over the past six years, the PEI BioAlliance has tapped into the national and international bioscience scene, attracting researchers and businesses pursuing new opportunities. PEI’s bioscience companies are well-integrated into the Island economy, many of which operating out of world-class facilities including those at the National Research Council Institute for Nutrisciences and Health at the UPEI campus – one of many points of leverage for the PEI BioAlliance.
