New Book Celebrates Arkansas City's People, Places, and Events
Vintage photographs and captions highlight little-known stories. Arkansas City: People, Places, and Events, a new book that illustrates the city's little-known stories through vintage photographs and captions, will be published July 18, 2011.
The book, written by Cherokee Strip Land Rush Museum Director Heather Ferguson, tells the stories of the accomplishments of Arkansas City people throughout its history, as well as the important places and events that have often been omitted from the history books. Arkansas City: People, Places, and Events is a continuation of an earlier book by Ferguson, Arkansas City, which gave a more general overview.
“I believe there are stories in the book that many people know nothing about,” says Ferguson. “I hope people will enjoy them and pass them on to future generations.”
Arkansas City: People, Places, and Events will be available July 18, 2011 at area bookstores, independent retailers, online retailers, and through Arcadia Publishing at (888) 313-2665 or www.arcadiapublishing.com.
