Yeomans Outdoor Leisure increase presence in Worksop with new store

June 28, 2011 - PRLog -- The new store offers the same high level of customer service and product knowledge but with a larger range of outdoor equipment than the previous outlet in Worksop.  At twice the size, it replaces the previous smaller store located on Bridge Street. The new store will showcase the company’s expanding range of tents, camping equipment, outdoor clothing, footwear and accessories.

Yeomans Outdoor Leisure is a respected national retailer which has been trading in Worksop for over 20 years, offering branded apparel and equipment for the individual or family who enjoy the outdoors - principally walking, hiking and camping. The previous Yeomans store had strong support in the area which the company attributes to its traditional approach, retaining the same excellent customer service as it did when Walter Yeomans started the company right at the beginning of the 20th Century.

The new Yeomans Outdoor Leisure store opened in the Priory Shopping Centre, increasing the Worksop store’s floor space to 1200 sq. ft. providing visitors with a far wider in-store offering. The growth of interest in camping, hill walking and holidaying in the UK, coupled with the popularity of the previous Yeomans store prompted the sourcing of a larger retail outlet in the town. Yeomans is committed to continually providing value for money quality products, supported by the highest possible level of customer service and this is set to continue at the new store location.

A raffle was held on the opening day which saw the lucky winner and local resident, 11 year old, Richard Tomlinson win the popular ‘Peakland Sonic’ pop up tent.  

Yeomans is the UK's largest independent camping and outdoor retailer supplying tents, camping equipment and outdoor clothing with over 106 years experience. The company dates back to when Walter Yeomans began trading as a saddler in a small shop in Chesterfield. He made a living from repairing pit harnesses, army boots and converting army uniforms for civilian use. A wide range of army, hospital, postman and service uniforms were brought into the shop with many being taken to pieces, dyed and re-made into clothes for re-sale.

Today the company has 102 retail outlets across the UK with an ongoing refurbishment programme in place to take the business forward for the next 100 years. Yeomans is also famous for putting on some of the largest outdoor camping exhibitions in the UK with up to 100 pitched tents available for viewing at each camping show.
