New York, NY— On Thursday, June 30th, Step it Up Africa partners with Mon Utopie Idéale | The PR Company to host a summer benefit, entitled Step it up in Style.  All proceeds from the benefit will go towards educational scholarships for two disenfranchised children in Volta region Ghana.  The benefit will feature world-class performances by Jojo Abot and Loosey Spot, stunning accessories by Design by U, giveaways from select sponsors, and after party by New York’s first Afro-Electronica disc jockey, DJ Universe at Katra Lounge (217 Bowery Street) from 6pm – 11pm.  

Despite achievements recorded in various social service and public health initiatives in Ghana West Africa, reduced access to basic necessities such as proper footwear, persist among school age children in the Volta region of the country.  Thus, earlier this month, Step it Up Africa convened its first fundraiser to mitigate this issue.  The benefit featured live music by six exceptional bands, spa and jewelry giveaways from various Pan African brands such as Design by U, Pearl Naidoo, The Ahhh Spot and Skhue’d Works.  The benefit successfully acquired close to $1,000 as well as 800 shoes donated by over 100 people who attended the affair.  Now, Step it up Africa is at it again, pledging to use proceeds from the Step it Up in Style benefit, to bankroll the cost of education for two children residing in the Ghana Volta Region.  Not only will these children be able to attend any school of their choice for one year, tuition free, they will also be able to do so with new footwear, courtesy of Step it Up Africa.

It’s not the answer to another cry of an African child but an attempt to reward and encourage the good work and effort of children who are pursuing an education now to secure a brighter future for themselves, their family, community and humanity at large” says Jojo Abot, Founder of Step It Up Africa”.
