Export of Yellow Phosphorus to be Further Restricted in China

June 27, 2011 - PRLog -- Guangzhou China, June 24, 2011 – Export of original yellow phosphorus products will be further restricted, while export of yellow phosphorus deep processing products and high value-added products will be encouraged greatly in China, according to CCM’s report The Future of Yellow Phosphorus in China.

China owns the largest capacity and output of yellow phosphorus in the world. Statistics shows that the proven reserves of phosphorus resources in China are 16.786 billion tonnes. Although China is abundant in yellow phosphorus, China has exported less and less yellow phosphorus to overseas market in recent years, due to the Chinese government’s restriction on the exportation since phosphorus resource is irreplaceable and nonrenewable.

The Chinese government had implemented policies to restrict exportation and production of yellow phosphorus since 2005. Export of yellow phosphorus is limited since 2008 by increasing the tariff to 120%, which is the highest record in history. Though the tariff has been reduced in 2009, the export situation was still down.

As the government will insist on yellow phosphorus resource protection, the export of original yellow phosphorus products will be further restricted in the future. It is estimated that the export of yellow phosphorus deep processing products and high value-added products will be encouraged greatly in China.
