About the Brand and Creator
Eric and Rufus is the creation of Tagore Ramoutar the Founder of Longshot Ventures Ltd. The idea was born from playing and making up stories with his two young children. The books are published by Longshot Ventures Ltd, and printed in the UK/ USA.
About the Author, Illustrator and Photographer
Tagore Ramoutar is happily married and has two little daughters. They live in South West London. The books have been written, illustrated by him and characters are his (and his girls) creations. Where needed the photographs have been taken specially for the books but some are just everyday photos from family activities. The books combine a story told from the point of view of the character and photographs to illustrate, many of the books include facts about the pictures that can be shared with the child when they ask questions.
The stories have been inspired by the conversations Tagore has had with his daughters and the things they are interested in. All the stories are targeted at the 2 to 7 year old age range, apart from the ten short stories which are aimed at the 5-9 year old. All are equally targeted at boys and girls.
The books are part of a collection of gifts for children that include clothing and toys based on the same characters. The gift collection is available from Pixie and Punk – please visit www.pixieandpunk.com .
Where the Characters come from.....................
"All the characters have come from stories made up to excite my children. Eric Boyle the Crocodile, the first one, was created to help excite my eldest daughter to eat her pasta quicker (ps it worked); Rufus T Bear came about because I was always asking her who she played with at nursery and "did she play with Rufus?" as a joke and she used to always tell me there wasn't "a Rufus at nursery Daddy"; Arabellafella came about on a steep walk up a hill to encourage them to walk; Brownie the Monkey was asked for and named by my eldest; and Jacob Rabbit was created for my littlest and named by her."
Many of the adventures are based on things that my children have enjoyed and the books have been extensively shared and "tested" with them, their cousins and their friends. I hope you enjoy them as much as we have.
