June 24, 2011 - PRLog -- EUREKA SPRINGS, AR- After nearly two decades of entertaining audiences with their comedic antics and country music show, Randall and Dawayne George, owners of The Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down, are working to take the Hoe-Down in a new direction.

The brothers plan to bring big name country artists to their stage, and will begin the new venture July 9, when Gene Watson arrives to croon his iconic hits, as well as songs from his CD, “Your Money and My Good Looks,” which released just last week. Tracks on the CD include work by Alison Krauss, Trace Adkins and Rhonda Vincent.

Watson, a country music star since the late 1960s, said he dropped out of school in ninth grade to work on cars, which was what he always wanted to do.

“I was doing auto body work during the day and playing in a few clubs at night. But music found me,” he added. “I never did go looking for it.”

Among his famous singles are “Farewell Party,” “Memories to Burn,” and “Paper Rosie.”
The George Brothers open at 7:30 p.m. for Watson, who takes the stage at 8.

Randall George explained the theater’s new direction, saying, “Times change, and we want to bring in a new crowd…give locals and tourist different things to see and hear at the theater. We think people want a more contemporary-style show, more like the Grand Ole Opry, with artists they hear on the radio.”

George said they see the Hoe-Down moving towards more of a concert format than variety show, although he hastened to add that P. Nutt and Ponytail will always be there tickling funny bones, and the George Brothers will open for visiting artists. During the week, he expects the traditional Hoedown show will still play, with big-name country artists filling the stage on weekends. The George brothers have artists such as David Frizzell and George Jones in their sights.

They are hoping to attract big name gospel acts, as well, George said.
“This year is an experimental year,” George added, “and as popularity builds, we’ll fill the stage with more big names.”

The George Brothers released a CD in 2010, entitled “Brothers, Friends and Outlaws Forever,” with the recently released single of the same name still moving up on the country music charts. The next single from the CD will be aired in July.

Tickets for the Watson show are $35 for reserved seating, and George said they are going fast. Tickets can be purchased by calling the theater at 800-468-2113.
