Follow on Google News | Lost Jewellery of Eva Peron Discovered in Hotel RoomDiamond jewellery belonging to iconic Argentine first lady Eva Peron found in Italian hotel rooom.
By: The Jewel Hut Police are reported to have recovered the jewellery from the room located on the outskirts of Milan; according to the Italian police, it was rented by members of a criminal group from Serbia. The stolen items consisted of a diamond tiara, diamond earrings and rings that once belonged to the late Argentine first lady, popularly known as Evita. The jewellery – which totalled a worth of EUR 6 million – was originally stolen from a store in Valencia, Spain in 2009. Lieutenant-Colonel Antonino Bolognani stated at a news conference that the room belonged to members of a Serbian crime gang who are currently on the run. Six members of the criminal group were arrested in Spain in May 2010, and one in Milan all in connection to the thefts. Icon Peron, who died in 1952, was the second wife of President Juan Peron and has been immortalised in history and pop culture, the latter thanks to a successful stage musical and the 1996 film adapation starring Madonna.
