RECENT IACP AWARD RECIPIENTS BRING THEIR FIESTA TO THE COCINA!

SAN DIEGO, CA-June 22, 2011--After sweeping the book awards at the 2011 conference for the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP), Flying Pans authors Bernard Guillas and Ron Oliver head to Old Town San Diego to sign copies of their acclaimed cookbook.  On Saturday, July 9th from 4-6 pm, visitors can meet the chefs at Fiesta Cocina kitchen boutique.  

Flying Pans: Two Chefs, One World was bestowed with two monumental wins at the coveted International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) 2011 Cookbook Awards. The prestigious awards, highly considered the gold standard in culinary publishing, were announced June 2nd at a ceremony in Austin, Texas as part of IACP’s annual conference. The seasoned duo beat out multiple celebrity chefs, winning in the “Chefs & Restaurants” and “People’s Choice” categories.  They were also among the top three finalists for “Food Styling and Photography.”  

The 2011 IACP awards were the most competitive in the association’s history and the San Diego based chefs add these honors to last year’s when Flying Pans won “Cookbook of the Year” at the San Diego Book Awards and was a top ten finalist for “Cookbook of the Year” at the Foreword Magazine Book of the Year Awards.  

ABOUT CHEF BERNARD GUILLAS AND CHEF RON OLIVER: Brittany-born Bernard Guillas is Executive Chef of the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club and landmark Marine Room restaurant in California.  He is an avid culinary traveler who can share tales from seven continents.  He has been featured on the Today Show, in Food Arts, and “Great Chefs of the World” TV series, and was awarded “Chef of the Year” by Chef Magazine.  Ron Oliver is Chef de Cuisine at the Marine Room and has led the restaurant to eight titles of “Best Restaurant in San Diego.”  He is an avid globetrotter from an early age who holds a unique understanding of how to cook exotic ingredients in a way that tantalizes the American palate.
