June 23, 2011 - PRLog -- Prospective immigrants look to regional centers as a straightforward method of acquiring a visa to the United States for them and their families.  EB5 Green Cards have grown in popularity in the recent years and the number of regional centers has doubled over the past ten years to over 100 regional centers within the continental United States.

The EB5 Visa was established in 1991 to help encourage foreign investments. The Immigration and Nationality Act allocates 10,000 EB5 visas per year. William Hicks from EB5 Select explains, "The EB5 Visa program has grown in popularity  due to the lack luster economy in the States. Businesses are seeking other form of investments. The Regional Center program has grown into a positive option for both foreign nationals in search of a visa and projects that could use a monetary injection".  However Mr. Hicks warns that, "Investors must perform their due diligence on the regional centers because they are not only protecting their investment but their visa."

President Barack Obama signed a bill in September 2009 continuing the EB5 Visa program . The bill sunsets in September of 2012 and it is anticipated the bill will be signed again with added provisions to improve the EB5 visa program.

Regional Centers typically are located in areas of low unemployment. Investors are required to commit $500,000 into a regional center project and create ten jobs.
