She is currently promoting her new album. Sought after singer/songwriter, rocker and collaborator Emily Zuzik, who “mixes the urgent intensity of Ani DiFranco and Tori Amos with the easy cool of Kim Gordon,” (Performing SongwriterMagazine) “These songs are part of a collection of work that I am very proud of and feel needed to come out,” said Zuzik. “I have a lot of material, and I’m tired of keeping it in notebooks or on demos on my laptop. It was time for these songs to take flight.” Recorded at Brooklyn’s Galuminumfoil Studios with producer Chris Cubeta in May 2010, the blues-rock influenced album was mixed by Josh Kessler at Bushwick Studio in early 2011. Wes Hutchinson (guitars), Brian Kileen (bass) and drummer Ryan Vaughn (currently recording with Fugees producer John Forte’s band) back Zuzik’s gritty, Americana-fueled guitars and sexy Sheryl Crow-tinged vocals. Zuzik is also a featured vocalist on “The Low Hum,” off of Moby’s new album Destroyed, and can be heard singing the theme to the NBC show Love Bites. Zuzik’s wide-ranging career has allowed her to shift fluidly from acoustic folk to alternative rock and everything in between. A fixture in the New York City music scene for nearly a decade, in addition to her work with Moby, Zuzik has written with Wes Hutchinson, UK dj duo REFIX, Tim Lefebvre (Chris Botti, Wayne Krantz), TC Music’s Ra Domini, Art Hays (Matchbox 20, Carbondale), John Lennon Songwriting Contest winner Tom Glynn and Benji Rogers of Marwood and Pledge Music. Her first release, The Fainting Room (2000), was with San Francisco-based, acoustic roots pop group Sexfresh, followed three years later by the group’s sophomore album, Vacancy. Her debut solo record The Way It’s Got to Be was released the same year and featured pop hooks with a rock swagger and a hip-hop beat. That release was followed by 2002’s Babes with Beats Tour featuring Atoll Music Label’s artist Pi, and hit 27 shows in 30 days across the US. The punch of her knockout rock vocals and acclaimed rhythm section including drummer Keith Carlock (John Mayer, Steely Dan, Sting) and Tim Lefebvre (bass) were the highlight of 2006’s You Had Me at Goodbye. That record spawned the single “Breaking It Down,” which was featured in JANE Magazine’s 2007 Top 10 It List. In 2009, Zuzik released Jagged Life, a three song digital EP. Her four-year collaboration with bassist Tim Lefebvre resulted in 2010’s Domestic Blitz, a record that evokes the chill of Morcheeba with the rock of Kate Nash and made Bass Player Magazine’s 2010 “Recommended Listening” list. Zuzik is an Epiphone/Gibson Guitars Endorsed Artist, a commissioned musical artist for Esopus Magazine and can be heard in Erie Insurance jingles and the Blue Man Group Production Saturday Morning Puppet Club. Her songs have appeared in the CW show Smallville, the Cuba Gooding Jr. film Ticking Clock and the indie film Fifth Form, as well as promos for Hormel and Jenn-Air. Her music is available for licensing with Jingle Punks, WACBIZ, Chilen and Bug Music. Zuzik has toured extensively in the US and UK and with the release of The Wild Joys of Living, she solidifies her reputation as a sought-after writer, collaborator and performer. “Emily Zuzik’s voice ranges from a sweet and alluring croon to a low growl that would charm even the most world-weary.” Emily will now be having an Album release show announced below.
