Tsuen Wan International: Iran on track to become major steel exporter by 2016.

June 23, 2011 - PRLog -- Iran’s Commerce Ministry has informed Tsuen Wan International that the country intends to reach a steel production capacity of 42 million tons a year by the end of its fifth five–year socio-economic development plan, in March 2016.

The Middle-Eastern nation produced 5.583 million tons of crude steel in the first five months of 2011, well above the world average figure, according to a World Steel Association (WSA) report.



The World Steel Association’s report also indicates that Iran’s crude steel production climbed to 3.38 million tons from January 1 to March 31.

The amount shows 13% increase compared to the 2010 figure. Iran is presently ranked 7th among the Asian producers with annual output of 19 million tons, Tsuen Wan International research shows.


The country’s output growth rate over the same period was more than the average output figures of the world’s main producer countries such as China, India, USA, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia, Ukraine, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Japan and England.


The Ministry said there are 106 industrial and mineral projects, worth some $29 billion, currently underway in different cities across the country which are to be gradually brought on line by the end of the fifth five year development plan.

Sixteen of these projects, worth around $2 billion, will be operational by the end of the current Iranian calendar year, March 20, 2012, Tsuen Wan International was told.
