Former NFL Heavyweight and UGA Alumni Jonas Jennings Hosts Atlanta Celebrity and Charity Weekend

Celebrated former NFL offensive tackle, Jonas Jennings to host a celebrity and charity weekend to benefit Tri Cities High School.
 
June 22, 2011 - PRLog -- On June 24 – 25, 2011, celebrated former NFL offensive tackle, Jonas Jennings, will host a celebrity & charity weekend in south Atlanta at Tri Cities High School – 2575 Harris Street, East Point, GA 30344. The GA native is known for his charity endeavors both for his alma mater and also for the College Park, GA community.  The weekend will consist of a celebrity basketball game and a FREE football and sports leadership camp.  ALL proceeds from the weekend will go towards athletic equipment for Jennings former high school.

Born and raised in College Park, GA, Jennings attended Tri Cities High School where he made a name for himself both in sports and academics. In 1995, Jennings was selected to the AJC top 50 in Georgia and was the honorable mention All-State pick. Jonas played college football at the University of GA where he was all SEC on and off the field. In 2001, Jonas entered the NFL in 2001 with the Buffalo Bills.  After leaving the Bills, Jennings signed with the San Francisco 49ers in 2005. In 2010, Jennings retired from his illustrious football career with a heavily attended celebratory reception in College Park, GA.

Jonas is dedicated to supporting his Alma mater and has donated close to $100,000 to the Tri-Cities High school football program, with a current goal to assist with the modification of the Tri Cities Athletic Department weight room. Proceeds from the weekend of events will benefit Jonas’ ongoing efforts at Tri Cities High School Athletic Department to provide much needed resources to its student athletes.

Jennings believes young people need an opportunity to succeed especially during high school years when many youth get discouraged and choose the wrong path. His dedication to providing youth with the necessary tools to be successful on and off the field has made Jennings a hometown hero and professional philanthropist.

Jennings will welcome a host of celebrities and athletes including; Jagged Edge, Charles Grant, Marcus Stroud, Takeo Spikes, Deon Grant, Robert Edwards, Jamie Winborn, Tavares Washington, Richard Seymour, Randy Thomas,  Keyaron Fox, Aubrayo Franklin, Pastor Troy and many more.  Music will be provided by V-103 and Big Oomp Camp’s DJ Jelly.

2011 Jonas Jennings Celebrity and Charity Weekend of Events Include:

Crossover Celebrity & Charity Basketball Game. Tri Cities High School Gymnasium – 2575 Harris, Street, East Point, GA 30344. Door opens at 7:30pm. Children $5 and Adults $10. 100% of proceeds will benefit Tri Cities High School Athletic Department.
