By: TBARTA The Board will consider the plan at its regularly scheduled meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the Florida Department of Transportation Headquarters, 11201 N. McKinley Drive in Tampa. The update follows an extensive public engagement effort that reached thousands of people in seven counties and generated hundreds of comments on transportation issues. There will be an additional opportunity for public comment at the meeting on Friday. Adopted in 2009, the TBARTA Master Plan initially was focused on creating a regional transit network to ensure the seamless movement of people and goods across county lines. Rather than a rewrite of the original plan, the Master Plan update incorporates a broader spectrum of transportation elements, including the regional roadway network, freight network, airports and seaports. The updated plan also addresses the element of air quality, a key factor in future transportation funding. ****** TBARTA was created by the Florida Legislature in 2007 to plan and develop a multimodal transportation system to connect the seven counties of the Tampa Bay region - Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas and Sarasota counties.
