Mobile Ebook Publishing: XinXii Launches HTML5-based WebApp For Tablets And Smartphones

The browser-based application scores with a host of useful functions for rapid and simple upload or download whilst on the move: Authors can now also manage their publications on their mobile end device after a simple log-in or upload new ones and offer downloads for a fee. The browser-based HTML5 application not only supplies optimized content on tablets and smartphones; it can also be used without any disadvantages compared to a native app, even with slow connections.

With the development of the web app, XinXii.com is the first eBook platform worldwide to use the new options presented by HTML5. According to a study by the US market research company Gartner, global sales in the first quarter of 2011 increased by 19% over the previous year to a total of 428 million cell phones sold. Just under one in four cell phones was a smartphone, an increase of 85%. For this year, Gartner is forecasting sales of 54.8 million tablets, which corresponds to a growth of 181% over the previous year. In 2012, sales are expected to increase to more than 208 million worldwide.
