Hues of Blackness: A Jamaican Saga - Video Trailer Embedded

Stunning New Novel a Search for Bloodlines and a Discovery of Pride

June 16, 2011 - PRLog -- This richly textured story of Jamaica is set in the jewel of the Caribbean, on an island rich in history and myth. Hues of Blackness: A Jamaican Saga is the powerful story of one woman’s determination to reclaim her heritage.

When Amy suffers a debilitating stroke following an ongoing dispute with a belligerent man, she is left with much to say, but cannot say it as she has lost her ability to speak. With her daughter and granddaughter at her side, Amy focuses less on her recovery, and more on her desire to reclaim ancestral land.

Searching for the evidence to help her in her claim, Amy’s mixed ancestry and history is unravelled, revealing her Taino-Spanish beginnings, mixed blood and slave heritage. Hues of Blackness explores the pride and resilience of women the world over.

About the Author: Rosey Thomas Palmer has written plays and poetry for 33 years. Her novel, Hues of Blackness, was born from discussions with Eva Jones, a well-known archivist and beloved friend, as well as from Palmer’s investigations of island history. When Palmer is not in her native England, she calls Jamaica home: “a magical island where I have spent the happiest times in the most challenging situations.” Currently she is working on a set of sequels to Hues of Blackness, which will highlight the male experience through island history. Palmer juggles her busy writing schedule with teaching, copy editing, social work, and family responsibilities.
