-- Few would know that the popular He-Man of the 1970s is a poet too. Actor Dharmendra has been penning his thoughts in the form of shayaris and kalams (Urdu poems) for a few decades now. The new judge of India's Got Talent 3 on Colors plans to get his work published in the form of a book translated into Hindi, and release it along with an audio CD and music video.
Dharmendra confirms and says, "I've been flooded with thoughts at every stage of my life. I've seen a lot of ups and downs, seen my kids grow up and grow old. I've raised a family. I've been in the public eye. All these things just gave rise to a lot of different emotions. And there's no better way to release them than putting them down on paper. I've done that over the years, and shared it with some of my closest friends and family."
The actor hasn't put a date to the book's release, but he's sure he'll have at least 200 such poems penned. "I'm very shy as far as my shayari is concerned," Dharmendra smiles. "There are better shayars in this world than me, for sure. These are my inner thoughts. I'm being coaxed and cajoled by my close friends to get them printed and I've agreed to listen to them. But I still need to find the right time to publish the book."
