On June 25th Oakville’ This year we kick off the event with a Friday night Family Film Premiere showcasing colourful cultural classics at our legendary Encore Cinema’s. Watch Kerr Street come alive under the stars with an evening opener that will make the first weekend of summer unforgettable. On Saturday and Sunday the streets will be abuzz with enough action to entertain every age group. The kids will go nuts for KidsZone offering games, bouncy castles, face painting and a little magic. Don’t miss the 7th annual “The Beaver Has Landed” skateboarding competition. This jaw-dropper is back and bigger than ever! All ages will enjoy watching both amateur and professional talent in action. Kids will love the chance to test their skills on our mini ramp and try out the latest boards. In advance of Canadian Multicultural Day June 27th, Kerr Village will jump start celebrations with their always popular visual and gastronomic delight The Carousel of Nations Multicultural Festival on Saturday, June 25th from 10am – 8pm. Returning to Kerr Village for their fourth consecutive year, this daylong festival will feature 11 cultural groups, representing more than 30 different nations. Traditional dishes and crafts will also be available for purchase. The popularity of this event is easy to understand since Kerr Village has long been synonymous with multiculturalism. “Canada is a nation built on the strength of communities – like Oakville – that were founded by immigrants and have grown and thrived through the contributions of individuals and families from many different cultures and backgrounds. When we experience each other’s different customs and traditions, we discover similarities and common threads that bring us closer together” Says Terrence Young, MP Oakville, “Events like the Kerr Village Summer Celebration and Carousel of Nations bring us together and build a stronger community.” But still looking for some hometown blues to fill the soul? Well our Main Stage will host our best and most eclectic line-up of Rock, Jazz, Blues and Contemporary musicians this side of Naw’lins! We have the rootsy Jim Armstrong and the Sonic Deli Band, the soulful Mr. Rick and the Biscuits, the Blues infused: Aaron Griggs and Velvet Bulldozer, Roger Martin Band , Twang Bar Flies, Glory, Phil Cane Combo Deluxe, Glory Days and the Juno-award winning: Fathead. The music runs all weekend long and street dancing is encouraged.
