Reggae On The River Line-Up in Place/Cooks Valley Camping Available

On the weekend of July 16th and 17th, 2011, the Mateel Community Center is proud to present the 27th annual Reggae On The River at Benbow Lake State Recreation Area in southern Humboldt County, CA.  An internationally renowned showcase of the best in reggae and world music, this year’s event will feature two stages (a ROTR first!) and is shaping up to be a good one.

We are excited to announce the entirety of this year’s line-up (from openers to closers) --Redwood Stage Saturday: Opening prayer with Goodshield, Mystic Roots  Band, Native Elements, Pashon Minott, Perfect, Annette Brissett, Bushman, J Boog, Reggae Revolution Tour w/ Kymani Marley & Gramps Morgan.  River Stage Saturday: Ambush, the Impalers, Zili Misik, Indubious, Sahra Indio, Edi Fitzroy, HR (Human Rights).  Redwood Stage Sunday: Jade Steel, Zili Misik, Clinton Fearon, Gondwana, Queen Ifrica, Tony Rebel, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80.  River Stage Sunday: 7th Generation Rise, Sahra Indio, Indubious, The Alliez, JahSun & Ishi Dube, SILA, Army, Rootz Underground.  

Camping for Reggae on the River will be at Cooks Valley. There is aweekend pass, a day pass, or a single night pass available for purchase. Cooks Valley offers river access, camping in the shade of the redwoods and showers (cold). Shuttles run from the campground to the event site. There are otheradditional campgrounds available in the area as well.

Easi B Releases ‘Stories Untold’ Debut Album !
(Kingston - Jamaica)  Reggae artiste Easi B has his debut album on the Yumojah Records Label entitled, ‘Stories Untold’ on Itunes. The sixteen track album features four love songs, three Hip-Hop/Reggae fusion, three slow acoustic tracks and six cultural reggae tracks which include singles now in rotation  such ‘Buss Now,’ ‘It Hard’, ‘Why’ and the remix of a previously released single entitle, ‘Pay Back Time.’ “This indeed a special project” says Easi B as it is not only my first  album on my label but features a strong contingent of some of Jamaica's top musician such as Dean Fraser, Dalton Browne (guitarist) and Danny 'Firehouse' Bassey. Backing Vocalists are the well known Limey Murray, Sherida and Fiona”.  Physical distribution of the album will follow shortly.

Just two weeks after releasing a single on the album entitled, ‘Why’ the song almost immediately became the “Smash Hit of the Week” on Metro FM in Kenya.  Such a distinction is awarded with six spins per day for one whole week.  A pleased Easi B said, “After recording this particular track, I having a number of persons listen I felt that this song has the potential to become a ‘break-thru’ hit due to the positive feedback I have been getting.” The album is available on itunes and will be launched in Portland, Jamaican August 2011.

Bits ‘n’ Pieces!
Macka Diamond controversial Cow Foot single seems this week the video for the song is #1 on FIWI Choice Top Ten Chart aired weekly on CVM Television. Sophia Squire has been on Stampede Street Chart for a number of weeks and has hit the Jamaica Music Countdown Top 25 Reggae Singles Chart over the weekend and holds the #24 spot.
