June 14, 2011 - PRLog -- BROOKLYN, MI– After a week off from competition, the NASCAR Nationwide Series is back on track this Saturday at Michigan International Speedway. Rookie of the Year contender Blake Koch of West Palm Beach, Florida is eager to get back behind the wheel of the Daystar Television Network #81 Dodge and resume his quest for the coveted 2011 Series Rookie title.

“It was nice to have a week off and relax with my wife but it will be great to get back into the race car,” said Koch, who enjoyed a quick vacation in the Bahamas after 14 straight weeks on the road.  “We need a strong run this week and I’m going to do all I can to put the Daystar No. 81 towards the front and get another Rookie of the Race award.”

When he takes the green flag in the Alliance Auto Parts 250, Koch will be making his 16th career start in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. So far in his career, Koch has garnered seven top 25 finishes and three in the top 20. His efforts have earned him an average finishing position of 26.6, which is an outstanding effort for a rookie driver on a team that competes on a limited budget.

In his last event at Chicagoland Speedway, Koch and the McDonald Motorsports Team fought an ill handling car for much of the day. After hanging on to a loose car for the early laps of the race, a vibration in the #81 plagued the team all the way to the checkered flag where they finished 27th. With a week off from competition, Koch and the entire team are refreshed, regrouped and ready for the strong finish.

Koch continues to maintain the 23rd position in the NNS Series point standings. In the standings for the Rookie of the Year title he is currently in second place. Timmy Hill leads the Rookie ranks with Koch sitting just 16-points behind him, despite missing one race early in the season. Ryan Truex is third in the Rookie standings, 21-points behind the leader.
