NewBarista™Touts New Digital Tools for Barista Training

June 14, 2011 - PRLog -- The world of specialty coffee and barista training will never be the same.  During its launch last week NewBarista announced its intention to bring the newest digital technology to what has traditionally been a low or no tech business.

“We are coffee lovers and educators.  Our vision is to honor the rich traditions of the past while making the romance, knowledge and skills of coffee making more accessible to more people, anywhere, anytime,” said founder, Paul Evanson.

Three unique digital tools introduced by NewBarista are:

Digital Job Aids.  Via their smartphone NewBarista customers can now reference most of the information from their original training.  The job aids include photographs and details regarding recipes and procedures.

Learning Management System.  Every manager/owner is given their own unique, secure LMS that allows them to view the training progress of their baristas 24/7.

Online Training, Testing and Certification.  The training is intense, interactive and video-based (over 65 videos in the Barista Basics course).  The barista students must pass multiple tests including the Final Certification Test at 85% or above.  Upon success they are automatically emailed their Barista Basics Certificate of Completion.

In addition to all of the “whiz bang” NewBarista offers traditional live, instructor-led classes and curriculum at its base in Seattle.

“Online learning isn’t going away any time soon.  We understand that change is difficult.  We hope to help the coffee world to grow by preserving the traditions and culture while employing new methodologies,” said Evanson.
