Bryan Cave Lawyer Named VLP “New Volunteer Attorney of the Year”

June 14, 2011 - PRLog -- PHOENIX – Associate Gustavo “Gus” Schneider has been awarded the “New Volunteer Attorney of the Year” award for 2010-2011 by the Volunteer Lawyers Program (VLP).  Since October 2010, Mr. Schneider has donated more than 130 pro bono hours to various cases referred to him by VLP.

Founded in 1981, the Volunteer Lawyers Program unites those in need with volunteer lawyers whose counsel gives thousands of Arizonans hope for a better life. VLP is co-sponsored by Community Legal Services and the Maricopa County Bar Association.

“Pro bono work is inherently rewarding, so I am humbled to receive this award,” said Mr. Schneider. “I’m grateful to VLP for providing me with the opportunity to make a difference in our community.” However, Mr. Schneider is quick to mention that this award is part of a collaborative effort, “Bryan Cave fully supports and encourages associates to engage in pro bono work. Our firm culture makes it easy to become involved, and I appreciate the support and advice my colleagues in the Phoenix office have given me since I started taking on referrals from VLP.”

Mr. Schneider’s practice is concentrated in the areas of corporate finance and securities, as well as real estate and banking. Prior to joining the firm he was a constitutional law attorney for a nationally-recognized public policy institute. Mr. Schneider received his J.D. from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University and his B.A. from the University of Texas at El Paso.
