June 14, 2011 - PRLog -- Home owners now want to make real focal points of their bathrooms and with the endless supply of design ideas on offer, there is almost certainly designs out there that will give you inspiration. When taking on the challenge of bathroom decoration it is always best to get as many ideas as you can and take the time to find the right designs for you. We all have different design tastes and ideas and you need to look at the bathroom as a whole in order to have a successful design.
Bathroom tile colours will affect the mood of the room greatly and the colours you choose are going to set the ambience. Larger rooms can carry off darker colours more successfully but for smaller rooms, the dark colours will absorb the light and make the room appear smaller.
Bathroom wall tiles need to compliment the floor tiles or floor material and both should not clash. Elaborate designs on the walls work much better with a neutral floor design and vice versa.
Making focal points in the bathroom and keeping the rest of the bathroom neutral is also a good idea.  Mosaic tiles are great for the shower and bath areas with different colours and designs used on each of the shower walls. Backsplash areas are also another area where focal points can be made and different tile materials can be experimented with.
Glass tiles work well in this area and also in shower and bath areas and they are easily maintained and cleaned.  Different textured tiles can also be used to give a unique design and feel but be careful not to mix too many different textured tiles together.
Many home owners are choosing to tile the whole of their bathrooms and have tiles floor to ceiling, this is similar to wet rooms where drains are installed and there is no shower cubicle at all. Tiles can still be installed from floor to ceiling even though the bathroom is not a wet room but the most common decoration for bathrooms is to have a combination of tiles and paint. Paint is often confined to small areas of wall because it is prone to peeling.
Always look at your bathroom as a whole and choose designs that complement each other, you can do this by first deciding on the colours you want and then moving on to the tile materials you will use.
Floor tiles are also now very popular in bathrooms and there are many tile materials that work well in a bathroom environment. Always seek advice from the manufacturer to the suitability of the tile material before choosing.
