Guardian Mfg. Delivers Advanced Iron Oxidation System for Removal of Dissolved Iron from Water

June 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Cocoa, FL, June 13, 2011 – Guardian Manufacturing has begun delivery of its proprietary Iron Oxidation system (Ensure-IOS) that reduces high levels of dissolved iron found in facility source water.  The system features a self regenerating catalyst material that removes iron from source water once its chemical ionic state is changed from Fe2+ to Fe3+ (ferric oxide) through oxidation. The catalyst beds are purged periodically through an automatic back flush step that removes the precipitate.  Once complete, the system continues its normal operation. The Ensure-IOS system eliminates costly filtration media replacement that is most often associated with traditional iron removal methods.

Guardian’s Ensure-IOS is driven through an oxidation process where oxygen is combined with the dissolved iron water source via a venturi injection system.  The chemical oxidation reaction between the dissolved iron and oxygen causes the iron to change its ionic state to ferric oxide which then binds to the media catalyst.  Periodic back flushing removes the ferric oxide from the media beds which are then available for immediate reuse, not a time consuming stop step for media replacement.  Thoram Charanda, Guardian Manufacturing’s Senior Chemist, recently stated that “This system provides an excellent tool for reducing the costs of filtration media to our customers.  All we need is a water sample from the customer and we calculate the oxygen and catalyst media requirements for their water source.”  He further added that “We are cost effectively treating dissolved iron concentrations from 0.1 to 10.0 PPM and we can do this for systems ranging from tens to thousands of gallons per minute water flow rates.”
