The survey results show that the firms enjoying Best-in-Class performance shared several common characteristics.  Best-in-Class companies are over twice as likely as Laggards to have an executive priority to improve enterprise quality management.  Best-in-Class companies are over 90% more likely than Laggards to standardize on a single quality management system eliminating and harmonizing disparate point solutions across the enterprise.  Best-in-Class companies are over 90% more likely than Laggards to establish change management processes for managing the transformation of business processes to include quality.

Aberdeen used the following for key performance criteria to distinguish Best-in-Class companies:
   95% new product introductions
   89% Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
   25% increase in operating margin vs. corporate plan
   98% on time and complete shipments
