Multi-State Scholarship Pageant Dates Announced; Seeks Contestants

2012 Miss Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware & New Jersey High School & Collegiate America Scholarship program announces multi-state pageant. The event will be held August 12 & August 13 at the Lancaster Host Resort in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

June 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Laurel, MD – The 2012 Miss Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware & New Jersey High School & Collegiate America pageants, the official state preliminaries to the national Miss High School America  & Miss Collegiate pageants, will be held on Friday, August 12 and Saturday, August 13, 2011 in a combined pageant at the Lancaster Host Resort in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.   Winners crowned at the state level will move on to compete in the national pageants, Miss High School America and Miss Collegiate America, in March 2012 in San Antonio, Texas. In addition to the opportunity to represent the state, winners will also receive a $1000 scholarship among her prizes.

The high school pageant is open to young ladies entering grades 9 – 12 in the fall of 2011. Students must attend private or public high schools or be home-schooled in order to be eligible to participate. There is no age limit, however contestants must not receive a high school diploma before March 31, 2012.  The collegiate pageant is open to women who are currently pursuing an undergraduate graduate or post-graduate/doctorate degree. Students attending a technical or vocational institution are also eligible provided they have graduated from high school. There is no age limit, however contestants must not have completed their studies before March 31, 2012.

Young ladies who will be in grades 6 – 8 for the 2011-2012 academic year have the opportunity to compete for the Jr. High title, however this division does not advance to a national pageant. Contestants at each level will represent their school for the academic year.

Each delegate will compete in three categories throughout the weekend’s competition. An individual interview with judges comprises 40% of the score, with the Evening Gown (40%) and fun fashion portions (20%) as the remaining categories scored to determine the winner. There is no fitness or swimsuit category in the competition.
