June 13, 2011 - PRLog -- English Cities Fund is delighted to announce the name of the first phase of its East London mixed used scheme, as Vermilion.

Work has now begun on Vermilion, phase one of the redevelopment of Rathbone Market which will include a new market square; shops, offices and community facilities.

English Cities Fund (ECf), working in partnership with the London Borough of Newham, has appointed Sisk, one of the largest construction companies operating in the UK, as the main contractor for the development and work on site began in December 2010.

Phase one is due for completion summer 2012 and will deliver new shops and 271 new apartments, with further phases to follow.

Throughout this redevelopment, the market will continue to trade for the benefit of shoppers and traders.

Vermilion, will officially launch in October 2011, but sales agent, Hamptons International has already received interest in the apartments which are located just five minutes from Canary Wharf.

David Caught, Residential Sales and Marketing Director, English Cities Fund said: “Vermilion is in the heart of East London, minutes from Canary Wharf, the O2, London City Airport and the Olympic sites means that it is a very attractive scheme.

“We already have a large database of enquiries about the development even though work is still in the primary stages. We are very excited about this development and after months of research feel that we have come up with a name that is really illustrates the vibrancy of the building.”

Vermilion, a name inspired by the building’s vibrant and colourful exterior cladding, is due to be completed by summer 2012 and its tower will span 21 floors, standing at over 70m high. The building will comprise studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments with a communal eco-garden.

The development will also greatly benefit from the Olympic legacy of facilities and transport improvements which include a brand new aquatics centre, velopark and Crossrail service.
