Raw Foods for Veggie Haters

When you embark on the raw foods diet you have figured out that you will be required to eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. The fruits aren’t necessarily a problem as you actually enjoy some of them.

The fruits aren’t necessarily a problem as you actually enjoy some of them. It’s the veggie consumption that you can’t quite imagine yourself doing. You hated peas when you were a child and you still hate them now. Not only peas, but just about everything that qualifies as a healthy veggie is last on your list of desirable edibles. So how does one go about eating a raw foods diet when eating vegetables is the farthest thing from your mind?

We are actually a veggie hating society in general. Approximately three quarters of all Americans don’t eat enough servings of vegetables and fruits. That’s three out of four Americans. The number is quite alarming if you realize that these foods are necessary to keep your body in operating condition.

If you are the type to choose carrot cake and zucchini bread every time over fresh carrots and raw zucchini you may have a difficult time adjusting to a raw foods diet. This is quite common. The people that eat raw food diets are usually doing it out of health concerns. Some are cancer patients or victims of obesity or other disease that can be helped significantly by eating raw foods.

This mental reason for beginning the raw diet is often to change the unhealthy eating habits that existed in these patients before they got sick. When your life is threatened by disease you tend to look at everything around you in a much different way. If you can save your own life or health by simply choosing to eat different foods, why wouldn’t you do so?

You’ll need to make a pact with yourself that you insist on changing your eating habits. The commitment to eat healthier foods has a lot to do with your mental state. Tell yourself how delicious that cauliflower is going to be before you taste it.

Some have come up with very clever ways to disguise their raw veggies so they will get enough every day. They eat them in liquid form blended with fruits so that they are essentially experiencing a fruit smoothie. The smoothie may contain broccoli but you’d never know it. You can’t really taste it! It is just as effective, but much more pleasant to ingest.
