Follow on Google News | Eco-Friendly Vacation Development Opens In A Predominantly Undeveloped area of Punta Burica, PanamaThe recently completed eco-development of Bamboo Bay is now available for those who wish to discover the biologically diverse area of the Chiriquí Province of Panama. Directly on the beach, this is the ultimate get-away-from-it-all destination.
By: Bamboo Bay Panama Consisting of three separate accommodation options, the unpretentious beach-front location of Bamboo Bay is now available for bookings. Completed in early 2011, the site comprises two rustic cabanas and one house on a Pacific beachfront location. The lodgings have been constructed in traditional style using local labor and sustainable materials from the area. Each features a thatched roof, private terrace and direct beach access. Although simple, both the cabanas and the house are well designed. They benefit from electricity, lighting, water, kitchenette and bathroom with a hot shower. Each offers a basic but comfortable level of accommodation for a self-catering stay. Bamboo Bay is located on the beach in the town of Yerbazales - seven miles from the larger town of Puerto Armuelles, which is the second largest in the Chiriquí Province. In close proximity is a small restaurant/bar which is generally open seven days a week. Owned by a couple from New York City, Bamboo Bay is a vacation opportunity for those who want to get away from the well-worn tourist trail. The owners are marketing not only towards those from North America and Europe, but also to Panama citizens. The development is managed by Iranian born American business man, Bernard Bahray, who has lived in Panama for many years and owns a restaurant at Enrique Malek airport in David. Although the region is not a major tourist destination, the area offers an abundance of activities for those who enjoy nature and the great outdoors. Sport fishing off the Pacific coast is a particularly favored past time, with some of the largest fish in the world being caught in these waters. It is also possible to accompany local fishermen as they go about their daily catch. Surfing is extremely popular, with large breakers being accessible both by boat and land. For those who like walking and hiking the varied and unspoilt landscape offers many opportunities – including beach walks, mountains, jungles and rolling farmland. Sightseeing is also well catered for. The towns of David, Volcan and Boquete are all within easy reach by car or bus for a day out. Boquete is a high-altitude mountain town, sitting at around 3,600 feet. Volcan is famed for the potentially active Baru volcano which towers above the town. David is the capital of this region of Panama, and the third largest townin the country. The community of Puerto Armuelles offers all the amenities necessary for a vacation. This bustling town has a good selection of restaurants, grocery stores, drug stores, clothing shops, banks, ATMs, internet cafes, a hospital and small airport. Travel to and from this area of Panama has been simplified by the recent major construction work carried out at the Enrique Malek International Airport in the town of David. Runway and terminal upgrades mean the airport will soon be in a position to cope with much larger passenger jets and international arrivals. Panama is keen to encourage visitors to the Chiriquí Province and as such a large amount of money has been injected into the airport expansion.
