Super Success Of Country Music Is Rooted In The Talents Of Great Songwriters Like Gary Rocke
The one thing that has propelled country music to the forefront of financial investments to the tune of $3 trillion dollars is the story-telling ability of their top songwriters like Gary Rocke. “It’s all about the song” in this business.
This week Gary Rocke released his latest composition as recorded by Doug Stokes to over 2800 radio stations. His hot new single, “Back Road Pickers” was released in compilation with Kenny Chesney (BNA Records), Darius Rucker (Capitol Nashville), Jerrod Neimann (Arista Nashville), Hunter Hayes (Atlantic/Elektra/
The single was shipped just ahead of country music’s biggest party which draws an estimated 350,000 fans to Nashville to celebrate both CMA Fest and Bonnaroo (Music’s largest rock music event). Stokes has one of the best vocals in all of country music. Well known as a demo singer in professional circles, Stokes shifts this song into high gear and keeps it there from start to finish, rolling along like a NASCAR champion throughout.
This single release could be one of Nashville’s great hit songs and was penned by someone from New Hampshire. That made the songwriter smile in the studio when Stokes was cutting the vocals. Music row in Nashville loves the fact that Gary Rocke writes a more edgy, hard hitting style than most of the laid back writers down south. It’s Rocke’s perfectly unique style that sets him aside as a songwriter for artists, television, movies and radio.
What makes a songwriter successful is their powerful ability to capture a story in a way that no other writer has in the past. The one thing about Gary Rocke’s songwriting that separates him from the crowd is his own solid identity as a lyricist in the crowded field of songwriters who compete annually for the hearts and minds of country music fans. This song which aims at the American Pickers television show on the History Channel is just a shining example of how a songwriter like Gary Rocke can find just the right words and melody to get radio stations to play their songs. http://www.cdbaby.com/
Gary Rocke has been playing music since he was twelve years old. His past music credits include playing with the Rocky Road band in Atlantic City in the finals of the True Value Country Showdown at Caesar’s Palace to a sold out crowd. Gary gives much of the credit for his down to earth lifestyle to his wife Shirley, Corey and Catina, his family and his long term relationship with Hall Of Fame producer Robert Metzgar.
Quite often Gary is asked if he is related to Kid Rock. “No he is not my dad,” the songwriter laughs. “I wonder if he likes classic hot rods, listens to southern rock and plays pool,” Gary asks. “OK, maybe we are related somewhere back in the distant past.” Rocke (pronounced just like rock) is a member of the prestigious Broadcast Music, Inc. group of songwriters in Nashville. They annually collect more money and have more success than any other PRO (Professional Royalty Organization)
Having worked at Timken Aero Space in Lebanon, NH for decades, Rocke draws on his extensive love of music, from his circle of close friends and from his wonderful family for inspiration in writing these incredible hit songs. His favorite charity “David’s House” is a passion and he supports the charity and their goals of providing lodging for the parents of children who are convalescing in the hospital.
The song has a strong group of adds this week from breaker markets across the United States. Radio stations put a song in what is called a “test” phase for about 2-3 weeks, then start spinning a new song in “light” rotation and within 8-10 weeks the song starts to gain traction and get airplay. Initially the radio panel at Nielsen shows very favorable adds for a great songwriter’s new hit single, “Back Road Pickers.” For further information on the great songwriting career of Gary Rocke contact:
