Award-winning Suffolk photographer selected for Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition 2011

June 11, 2011 - PRLog -- Paul Coghlin, an award-winning fine-art photographer based in Suffolk, UK, has been selected as one of the exhibiting artists at the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts “Summer Exhibition” in London, UK, for his toned photographic print “Pink Tulip, Study IV”  The show runs until 15th August 2011.

On receiving confirmation of the selection, Paul said “I was thrilled to hear that my work had been chosen and that my print will be displayed at such a renowned institution alongside so many world-class artists.  It's a wonderful opportunity”.

The Summer Exhibition has been held annually since the foundation of the Royal Academy in 1768 and is a celebratory showcase for a wide range of media and styles, including paintings, photography, artist's books and sculpture.  Both unknown artists and internally renowned Royal Academicians present their work to around 200,000 visitors each year.

The exhibition is curated by an annually revised panel of Royal Academicians, all practicing artists.  Any artist may submit work for consideration and this year over 12,000 pieces were received, with 1200 being selected for the show.

Paul, an Associate member of the British Institute of Professional Photography, is also the BIPP's current "Photographer of the Year" and recently received the prestigious "Peter Grugeon Award" for his Associate submission panel, a series of 20 black and white fine art prints.

Based in Suffolk, UK, Paul Coghlin is a multi-award winning Fine Art photographer, regularly appearing in magazines and exhibitions.

During 2010, in addition to a number of others awards, Paul received the British Institute of Professional Photography "Photographer of the Year" and "Peter Grugeon Award" as well as B+W Photography Magazine's "Photographer of the Year 2010" and the "Digital Printer of the Year 2010" awards.

He is an Associate member of the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP).

Paul is represented by the famous Weston Gallery in Carmel, California and also the Sea Pictures Gallery in Suffolk, UK.
