Y2K Academy Set to Honor 10 Dads With Fatherhood Awards Sunday June 12th

June 10, 2011 - PRLog -- As President Barack Obama gears up to celebrate responsible fatherhood in the White House, today, Dr. Princella Johnson announced that Y2K Academy Family Enrichment Center has selected 10 Hampton Roads Dads to honor in celebration of the Y2K11 Dadz of the Year Awards observance to kick off Responsible Fatherhood Appreciation Week.
The observance coincides with Father’s Day and calls on mothers, children, pastors, employers, friends, colleagues and neighbors to honor Y2K Dadz who exemplify outstanding fatherhood qualities.

Suffolk Mayor Linda T. Johnson proclaimed June 12-19 Responsible Fatherhood Appreciation Week in the City of Suffolk. Vice Mayor Charles Brown will be on hand to present the proclamation to Y2K Academy. The awards ceremony will be held Sunday, June 12, 2011, 7 p.m. at Tabernacle Christian Church in The Shepherd’s Center, 2500 E. Washington St., Suffolk, Virginia 23434. The general public is invited to this free event.

Fathers have been selected in five different categories with five runners up also being recognized. Keynote speaker for this year’s event is Mr. Don Roberts, News Anchor, WAVY TV-10.  This year’s Dad of the Year Award will be presented by Judge Alfreda Talton-Harris, Fifth Judicial District. The event will be emceed by Ms. Delores “Dee Dee” Ricks-Gee of Pulsar Advertising. Local dignitaries from throughout Hampton Roads will be on hand to present the awardees their trophies.

Winning Dadz will receive a first quality, new men’s suit, shirt and tie along with their award, certificate and free Responsible Fatherhood resources. Special guest performances by local Hampton Roads gospel music artists and Christian step team “Sigma Phi Gamma” will round off the celebration.
