June 9, 2011 - PRLog -- The Dragonfly Heart Camp will host its Second Annual Sprint Triathlon in Wilmer Park to benefit the non-profit organization’s Summer Camp for children who have received a heart or lung transplant, or who are diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. Kyle Garlett, an Ironman Triathlete, author of Heart of Iron: My Journey from Transplant Patient to Ironman Triathlete, will be in Chestertown, MD to promote Dragonfly Heart Camp and the Sprint Triathlon. Kyle is a four time cancer survivor and heart transplant recipient and motivational speaker who will speak at the pre-race dinner on Saturday and kick-off the race on Sunday morning. The Triathlon will be on Sunday, July 3 and is organized and operated by Bluepoint Timing and Race Management. Registration is now open for individual and relay team entries for the event.

Dragonfly Heart Camp, the first of its kind, is staffed with medical experts who donate their time to make the camp a reality for children with challenging health needs.  The camp accommodates 30 children per year, and the cost to send one camper to camp is $1000.  All campers attend Dragonfly Heart Camp free of charge thanks to charitable donations and other fundraising events.  Three doctors and twelve nurses from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia volunteer their time and talent to work at the camp for the week.

The sprint triathlon includes a .5 mile swim in the Chester River off of the Washington College dock at Wilmer Park; a 17.1 mile out and back bike race along Quaker Neck Road; and a 3.1 (5k) mile run along John Hanson Road. Entry fees are $70 per individual and $100 for relay teams.

Triathletes can register for the event on active.com or can access registration from dragonflyheartcamp.org or bluepointtiming.com. Dragonfly Heart Camp is also seeking race volunteers and sponsors.
