By: JBW Group The original pledge by The Supper Club’s founder, Duncan Cheatle, of 1000 hours of mentoring was made as part of his and the Club’s contribution to Through StartUp Britain (launched by the prime Minister, Chancellor and Secretary of State last week) of which Cheatle was one of the founders. Nearly 100 applications were made in the first week alone and have all been matched to mentors already. Jamie Waller is supporting Jennifer Okpapi who has set up London’s first cookery school dedicated solely to African Cooking. Jamie will be using the time to understand Jennifer’s business and help her with the structure, finance side and putting together a 12 month vision. Through his extensive contacts he will introduce her to a successful restaurant owner and organise for her to view some cooking schools. At the end of their sessions she will have a brand and communication plan for her business. Jamie Waller said: “I am really looking forward to drawing on my experience of how to build a successful business. There are hurdles in this process and I know that I will be able to guide Jennifer over them smoothly. We have already started work and identified the areas in which she will need help. It’s a great challenge and I hope that with my direction we will help to accelerate their growth. ” Jennifer said “I am learning so much working with Jamie and the Supper club. Jamie has taken the time to listen to my plans for the business and already has a great understanding of the vision. It is encouraging to work with somebody who is enthusiastic about what you do and optimistic about the future of my business. He has introduced me to people in my industry which has been extremely useful and inspiring and I look forward to more of our work together.” For further information on JBW, please visit www.jbwgroup.co.uk # # # A small PR Consultancy specialising in start-ups, small and ethical businesses based in the Cotswolds.
